1137) Desiring peace in your life is a human thing. People do many things to get it. The list may include eating, spending money, traveling, partying, and various activities. Some of these may offer a temporary respite, but they can be a trap. After a while, it takes more of each of these to gain the feeling of peace you had initially.
Ultimate peace (and rest as used in this Psalm) is when you can lie down in your bed at night, knowing you’re right with God and others. You know where you’re going if you don’t survive the night and, no matter what comes your way the next day, you have someone by your side who will help you through it.
It’s amazing how much peace we gain by making sure we have offered forgiveness and have been forgiven.
Peace and rest are worth a lot. Maybe it would be a good idea to pursue them. Psalm 91:1
