How Loving Benefits You – Part 6

1099) My students love fruit. Whenever there are baggies of fruit that the lunch room occasionally brings by for snack time, they dig right in. Why? Perhaps it’s because fruit is so flavorful and it looks and smells so good. Perhaps because when it’s eaten, their bodies benefit from it; it doesn’t give them a “high” and then a major “low” that eating candy can produce; instead, it gives their bodies nourishment that seeps in gradually. Fruit is good on many levels.

Paul tells us in Philippians 1:11 that an ultimate benefit of love is that you will produce fruit. What kind of fruit? The fruit of righteousness or right-ness. Making the choice to do the right thing in any situation is as good for your body as eating physical fruit. Not only that, but eating this type of fruit also benefits everyone we come in contact with, because in essence, we share this fruit with them.

When you think about eating properly, don’t forget to include the fruits of righteousness.
