1098) As many of you know, I have a new puppy (Cayce) in my house and, though I love him, there are times I’d like to throttle him. One of these times is when I’m cooking supper and he is always at my feet. I’ll move to get something out of the refrigerator and I stumble over him. I need something from the cupboard and I trip over him. I don’t think it’s even on his radar screen that he’s in the way or perhaps going to make me stumble, but he does, just the same.
Philippians 1:10 comes to mind when I think of Cayce at my feet. Paul tells us here that part of loving others is making sure we’re not at their feet continually, causing them to stumble in their faith (or lack of it). Our example, in what we say and do, can influence others, either positively or negatively, and we need to be more aware of this.
The next time you stumble over a dog or anything else, remember this lesson from Philippians 1:10.
