How Loving Benefits You – Part 4

1097) Many years ago, in my high school classroom, I told my students to be quiet (one of many thousands of times I have done this), but then I went over to someone and made a comment that had nothing to do with the assignment. Another student looked over my way and said, without being disrespectful, “If you want us to be quiet, why aren’t you?” I stood still in my tracks; the young man made a good point. I was really saying to my class, Do what I say, not what I do. I haven’t forgotten this.

Philippians 1:10 tells us being pure is loving. This word pure means to be well examined. If someone is watching me closely, they will see I am practicing what I preach, sort-of-speak.

Being found pure by close examination means I can relax. I don’t need to put on my spiritual clothes and hope I fool others into thinking I am committed to my faith because my life showed I am.

If you are examined spiritually, would purity be evident?
