What could go wrong? On top of that, I never wore a helmet as many kids do today. I don’t know how I got through childhood with no broken bones or worse.

Helmets are important. They protect a complicated and delicate part of our bodies — our brains. If our brains get injured, the consequences are usually significant. In Ephesians 6:17, Paul compares our salvation to a helmet; it’s a protector from the rough things in this life. It prevents those that come our way from injuries that could be permanent.

Sometimes it’s good to remember that we have this helmet on and because of this, gratitude should be a natural response.
