1085) Secrets in childhood many times involved plans you made, feelings you had or surprises for loved-ones but as you grew older, secrets took on a more sinister mantle. I’ve read before, “those who hide nothing have nothing to hide,” and I think this makes sense. Do I think we ought to air all our dirty laundry? No, but 9 times out of 10, things we try to hide from others have a way of coming out eventually.
Ephesians 5:12-13 is still referring to the effects of light and another effect is that light exposes dark secrets. Ironically, there can often be relief in no longer having to hide something. God knows that exposing these deeds gives us the opportunity to repent and stop doing what is involved.
Light exposes dark secrets and is an opportunity to be free of something that has been a heavy burden.
