1061) We live in an angry world. You don’t even have to attempt to look; it’s everywhere. Angry drivers, angry consumers, angry parents, angry bosses, and angry children. It’s so prevalent that many hold it as a superpower, bullying their way through life. Interestingly, anger is just another emotion on the list of other human emotions. It’s not the emotion that is powerful and dangerous, it’s what this emotion creates.
Satan has crafted so many lies and balled them up into the sphere of anger. He has convinced many that being angry makes you strong, so that others don’t take advantage of you. Many think that being angry and reacting to it is giving yourself a “voice” you wouldn’t have otherwise.
We have to be careful with the lies Satan tells because he’s smart enough to build within them an element of truth. Can acting on your anger make you appear stronger? Yes, to some people it does. Is expressing your anger giving yourself a voice? Yes, but this voice is often coated with poison.
The emotion of anger doesn’t have to be wrong. Ephesians 4:26-27 tells us we can experience this emotion without wrongdoing. How? A person may be angry because a loved one is killed by a drunk driver and they become a champion against drunk driving. We can be angry at the sin, but when we use this emotion to punish others, we a buying into Satan’s lie.
The truth about anger evades many, but we don’t need to be in that group.
