Are You Mature? Part 5 – Harmony

1059) I had tennis elbow for a long year. I couldn’t pick up anything heavy with my dominant arm and it was amazing to me how much I use my arm for everyday tasks. My doctor finally tried a new treatment. This involved injecting my elbow with saline solution to irritate the area more so my body would go into overdrive to heal it. After each shot, my elbow looked like a golf ball was attached, but the treatment worked. During these months, I understood how important joints are.

In Ephesians 4:2-3, we are admonished to keep harmony, a.k.a. unity as a top priority between people, whenever it’s possible. The original use of the word unity means “joint”. I think Paul used this form of the word to emphasize how important unity is; it holds the “body” together. Without unity, the “body” is weakened like my arm was.

There’s so much in this world that makes arguing and discord easy choices, but a spiritually mature person knows harmony and unity are vital.
