God’s Fruit: Kindness

1042) My opinion of “mankind” is shaky. Why? Because in my reading and observing, I can see the best in people and the worst.

I see people ooze with road rage and I’ve seen people be gracious drivers.

I’ve seen people trample over others trying to get the best deals on Black Friday and I’ve seen others who make sure someone else gets what they need before they focus on what they may need or want.

I have seen the kindness of strangers and I have seen evil incarnate who seek to destroy anyone and everyone.

In thinking through these things, I feel that kindness is vital to have a fulfilling life in this world. God gives us the gift of kindness, as seen in Galatians 5:22-23.

The Greek word for kindness is chréstotés which means to meet real needs in others. The element of selfishness is overshadowed when I seek to meet the needs of those around me.

Imagine what our marriages, families, and job environments would be like if we made it a priority to be kind as defined in these verses.

God himself gives us this kindness. Shouldn’t we be willing to do the same for others?
