Helping Can Be Tiring

1032) Sometimes I have wished for just a nickel every time my name is called during the school day. If I could add them up and multiply for 36 school years, I think I would be surprised at how much money that would produce.

If I have responded and worked with everyone who has called my name, I will come home exhausted. I don’t even need to limit the call for my attention to the school day; if I help all who ask it of me, I will be tired. Just because something is tiring, however, doesn’t mean it’s bad.

Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 9:6-15, that helping others is important. He speaks of the law of the seed. If you plant sparingly, you will grow sparingly, but if you plant generously, you will grow things generously.

Helping, when in balance with the rest of your responsibilities, is a blessing the receiver gets and the one who gives it, as well.
