965) I have a confession to make. I hate depending on other people. It’s not that I don’t want others’ help nor that I think my way is the only way, but when I have to rely on others, they don’t always do the job I would. They aren’t always on time or they don’t have the same passion invested. But, no matter how I justify doing things on my own, islands are lonely.
In Acts 14:21-28, the leaders of the first Christian church knew the value of depending on each other. We see here that Paul and Barnabas spend a lot of their time encouraging and strengthening new converts. Why? Because God didn’t make us to be alone. When God was creating Adam, that’s exactly what he said. (Genesis 2:18) We need to hear that others struggle; that what we’re experiencing is something someone else understands because they have experienced it, too.
Some of the worst feelings are ones attached to being alone. God did not make us to be islands.
