925) As a child, I always hoped that there would be free samples at the grocery store where my mother took me. Sometimes it would be a small piece of sausage or a cube of cheese. It was exciting to receive something that was free. Of course, as an adult, I realize these samples really weren’t free; the hope was that they would spur people to buy that product.
What about times when someone gives you a gift? We can determine its value by what it cost the giver. If it cost that person nothing, the gift’s value is lower than if it cost the giver much.
In Luke 21:1-4, we have the rich giving to God and a very poor woman giving only a little. Jesus specifically says that the woman’s gift was more valuable.
God knows the sacrifices we make for him and others. These gifts have large price tags and God savors them.
