916) When I first came to rural Maine, many things caught my eye. I saw the beauty of wildflowers moving in the ocean breeze. I have seen the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I have paddled in a canoe around a lake with my husband seeing no one else the entire day. Beautiful!
There is something else I noticed, too. There are several people who have bought old school buses, parked them in their yards and filled them with junk. My first thought was, maybe old buses are cheaper than a storage unit.
In Luke 11:37-54, Jesus told the religious leaders they looked good on the outside but inside, they were full of greed and wickedness (vs. 39). This description is like those who bought the old school buses, washing and waxing the outside of the vehicle, even when you can plainly see all the junk inside. What would be the point? They cannot hide the trash within.
Sometimes, it’s easy to think that if I put on a good front, it covers up for things within that I know do not belong there. Perhaps it’s time to clean out the bus!
