Don’t Be Afraid

879) Whenever I think of God, I have this image of a mighty whirlwind. Someone who is big, powerful and authoritative. These things may be true and because of my image, there’s a part of me that feels like if I encountered God, I would be terrified.

In Mark 6:45-56, the disciples were in a boat and a dangerous storm came upon them. Jesus came to them, walking on the water and when they didn’t know what or who they were seeing, Jesus told them not to be afraid.

Though I’m sure that having a great respect and revered view of God is good, I don’t think He wants us to be afraid of Him. We are encouraged to call God “Abba,” which means Daddy. (Romans 8:15) We do not need to be afraid of God.
