Believing is Not Receiving

874) Just because you believe in something doesn’t make it true. I know someone who is convinced that the world is flat, and this person is what I would say, intelligent (in most things). He believes it even though it’s not true.

There’s another point to make about believing things. Saying you believe in something does not mean that you make a commitment to your beliefs. The Bible tells us that Satan believes in God, but he will definitely not spend eternity with Him.

Believing is not the same as receiving. God gave us the gift of His Son, who gave His life for mine. The punishment for my bad choices has been paid for. This gift does not become mine simply because I believe the statement. I must receive the gift; accept it. Then it becomes mine. Mark 1:21-28.
