Where They Are

873) I have been given the gift of teaching and have done so for going on 36 years. One of many things I’ve learned when working with middle and high school kids is you must meet them where they are. You don’t walk in a classroom and say, this is how I am; this is how I do it. Now, you must adapt and do it my way.

Jesus knew the importance of meeting people where they are. When he called two fishermen to follow Him, He told them they would now be fishers of men; a concept they could relate to.

It’s easy to want to change others (and, yes, I am especially talking to myself) to think and do things my way, but it’s important to find the value of another way of doing things or thinking. Meet people where they are. Mark 1:16-20.
