846) Each of us has a variety of powers. We have the power to speak. We have the power to think. We have the power to love or hate. When we read in Matthew 5:5 that the “meek will inherit the earth” the word, meek, as used in the Greek of the New Testament, means you have “your power under control.”

Young children will often say when they get caught doing something wrong, “I couldn’t help it.” When Jesus said the meek will inherit the earth, I think it can mean that in controlling the many types of powers we have, our lives would be less complicated and more fulfilled.

Keep your power under control. Easy to say; hard to do.
