Neither a Borrower nor a Lender Be
820) Borrowing is addressed in the Bible. Once such example is in Proverbs 22:7, which plainly says that a borrower is a slave to the lender. Kind of a no-brainer, right? Well, I got to thinking about this and wonder could this also apply to our relationship with God?
What if we treat God’s love as a loan? We ask for this when we feel we need it, not recognizing that He gave this as a gift. We become a slave to circumstantial love. What about treating God’s grace as a loan? We “borrow” it from God when we are in dire circumstances, making us a slave to the feeling of grace we may get in the moment instead of recognizing that grace is not a loan.
When it comes to the good things God has given us, don’t be a borrower; God’s love and grace are not loans. They are gifts.
