754) In my adulthood, I found that I have a talent for taking pictures. When I have time, I love getting in some shots of my pond, my brook, the ocean nearby and my sweet little dog. If I checked, I bet I have a thousand photos. Of all the things I take pictures of, my favorites are the ones I took of the sunset. The beauty of color takes my breath away. When I see a new sunset, I run outside to capture its memory. Isn’t it neat that no two sunsets are alike? I enjoy every one.
In Psalm 8, David reflects on the fact that sunsets, the atmosphere, the moon and stars were created by God and though these can be breathtaking, God considers His creation of mankind to be far more valuable and beautiful. Considering this, God set up humanity to take care of the things on the Earth as well as ourselves and each other.
If God Himself values us, despite knowing everything about us, how can we not value ourselves and others?
