The Value of Ax Heads

735) Fairly often, when I come home and share with my husband about the little things that happen during the day, I say, “I know this is a small thing but…” In considering why I do this; I seem to state that I know there are more important things to talk about. I even frequently have the same conversation with God. I know this isn’t all that important, but….

In 2 Kings 6:1-7, we see God’s concern about the small things in life. A man had the head of his ax fall off and land in the water. He is upset about this because it was a borrowed ax. Elisha, with God’s help, makes the ax head float so the man could retrieve it.

Thinking about this shows me that God cares about the things we care about. Was the ax head valuable? No. Was the situation vital because the man was cutting someone loose who was tied up? No. It was simply because the man cared about it. Amazing!

One final thought. You are more valuable than an ax head.
