717) As I get older, I’m finding that many physical actions I used to do are getting harder. One of these things is sitting on bleachers for more than 20 minutes. The last time I went to school to watch my kids play basketball, I could hardly walk afterward. These physical activities I refer to also include bending. It’s almost as if my body shouts out to me, “No! Do not do this!”
The verb, to bend, is interesting in the Hebrew language. The word is חָפֵץ (chaphets) which is translated “to delight,” but it also carries with it the connection of bending toward something. In 2 Samuel 22:20, David says that God rescued him because God “delights” or bends toward him. In my imagination, I see an older man bending down toward a child to listen intently. Not only does God listen to His children , but He loves to do it. He delights in it.
