618) It’s easy to think that those who have been given much on this earth are blessed. I think this can be true but sometimes we mistake wealth, power, knowledge and talent as God’s sign the He is rewarding such people. Again, this can be true but, Matthew 5:3-10 tells us specific things we can do to receive God’s blessing. If we’re poor in spirit; we realize that we don’t deserve God’s blessings but He gives them to us anyway. If we mourn over our bad choices, we receive the blessing of forgiveness. If we are meek; we keep our mouths or actions under control. This is the blessing of true strength. If we desire righteousness; we receive the blessing of a life less complicated with our bad actions. If we are merciful, we receive the blessing of mercy shown to us. If we seek God with a pure heart, rather than one that is selfish, we have the blessing of keeping our priorities right. And if we are peacemakers, we reap the blessing of camaraderie. Finally, if we endure the bad treatment some may give us in light of our faith, we will receive the blessing of a heavenly reward. These types of blessings may not be seen by others but they are priceless.
