591) As an adult, I look back on things I asked God for when I was young and for many of them, I’m so glad He did not give them to me. There are some times in life when the only way someone can learn a lesson is if God does give him/her the very thing they ask for. Israel asks God for a king in 1 Samuel 8 and God gave them what they asked for: King Saul, which many regretted quickly. Wouldn’t it be better if we ask God for something and then follow it with, “if this is your will.” So, as the saying goes, be careful what you ask for!
